Twitter for the Church?

1Twitter’s fame started with the question: “What are you doing?”. The user can only answer with 140 characters of text, including spaces. The update button sends this message to millions of users. Twitter is the home of microblogging. Within the limit of 140 characters, the users can express their thoughts, news, update their followers (the term for the members in a user’s network) on their latest activities (such as eating, partying, driving, etc.), and the like as often as possible.

Twitter is described to fill in the gap that was left out by other forms of communication through mass media. Each Twitter entry or Tweet includes a timestamp and a source. This social networking site is known to connect the average person with real-life celebrities. Twitter verifies their accounts to make sure the users are following the celebrities they want to follow. Actors, actresses, politicians, and anyone who’s anyone use this site.

Today, almost every brand and organization uses twitter as a means of communicating with their audience. It’s a great way to post links to articles that matter to the follower. People use twitter to follow companies and websites that they want to learn more about or share the same interest. The church can make of twitter to promote articles about Christianity and spirituality, and even to encourage people through simple quotes.
